The Framley takes its name from the Barsetshire living in Trollope’s Framley Parsonage, a comfortable corner of English ecclesiastical life. A generously proportioned occasional chair, it suits a rectory drawing room as well as a city apartment.

The proportions are the point: 98cm tall but only 67cm wide. That is height without footprint, and there is nothing else quite like it in the collection. Scroll arms and a tall tight back give it a formal, upright line, and dark turned legs on brass castors finish it in the traditional way.

A narrow, tall chair does something specific in a room — it draws the eye upwards and fills a vertical gap without eating floor. It works beside a chimney breast, in an alcove, or in a flat where every centimetre of width is spoken for.

The tall narrow back panel suits vertical patterns particularly well: stripes run naturally with the shape, and fine checks read neatly at this width. Very large repeats have nowhere to go.

Designed in York, handcrafted in Nottingham. Made to order in 10–12 weeks, with free fabric samples posted before you order.
