Occasional Chairs makes bespoke, made-to-order armchairs and occasional chairs from a studio just outside York. Every chair is designed in York and handcrafted in Nottingham, upholstered in the fabric of your choice — and you’re welcome to visit, sit in the chairs and feel the fabrics before you order a thing.

Visit our studio near York

How long does a chair take?
Every chair is made to order and takes 10–12 weeks from order to delivery. We’ll keep you updated along the way.
Can I see the fabrics before I order?
Yes. We’ll post you up to five free samples, or you can see and feel the fabrics at the studio by appointment.
Can I use my own fabric?
We don’t work with customer-supplied fabric — every chair is upholstered in fabric sourced through our design studio. If you can’t see the colour or pattern you have in mind, tell us what you’re after and we’ll source it and make your chair in it.
Do I need an appointment to visit?
Yes, the studio is open by appointment. Call 01904 215603 and we’ll find a time that suits you.
