Plump cushions daily and rotate them weekly to maintain shape and even wear.
Position away from prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading over time.
Act quickly on spills. Blot gently with a clean cloth — never rub the fabric.
Keep the room well ventilated. Good airflow helps prevent moisture and odour build-up.
The best thing you can do for your chair is simply use it. Sitting in it regularly helps the cushions and upholstery settle evenly. Beyond that, a few minutes of care each week will make all the difference.
Vacuum your chair fortnightly using the upholstery attachment on a low suction setting. This removes dust, crumbs, and loose fibres before they work their way into the fabric. Pay particular attention to the crevices between the seat cushion and arms.
If your chair has loose seat cushions, turn and rotate them once a week. This distributes wear evenly and helps the filling maintain its loft. Give feather-filled cushions a good plump each day to keep them looking their best.
Accidents happen. The key is to act quickly and gently. Most spills can be dealt with successfully if you get to them within the first few minutes.
Blot immediately with a clean, dry white cloth or kitchen paper. Work from the outside of the spill inwards to prevent spreading. Don’t press too hard — let the cloth absorb the liquid naturally. Once you’ve removed as much moisture as possible, allow the area to air dry naturally. Don’t use a hairdryer or place the chair near a radiator, as heat can set certain stains.
Carefully scrape off any excess with a blunt knife or spoon, working from the outside in. Then treat the area as you would a liquid spill.
Mix a small amount of mild, clear washing-up liquid with lukewarm water. Dampen a clean white cloth (never coloured, as dye can transfer) and gently dab the stained area. Rinse by dabbing with a cloth dampened with clean water only, then blot dry.

Prevention is always better than cure. A few simple precautions will help your fabric stay looking fresh for longer.
Keep your chair out of prolonged direct sunlight. UV rays will gradually fade most fabrics, particularly natural fibres like linen and cotton. If your chair sits near a south-facing window, consider using blinds or curtains during the brightest part of the day.
Position your chair at least 10cm away from radiators and other heat sources. Excessive heat can dry out natural fibres and cause them to become brittle over time.
If you have pets, a simple throw placed over your chair when you’re not using it will protect the fabric from claws, hair, and the occasional muddy paw. Choose a throw that can be machine washed easily.

Avoid dragging your chair across the floor — always lift it when moving. This protects both the legs and your flooring. If your chair has castors, check them periodically to ensure they’re rolling smoothly and not damaging the floor.
