What Does Bespoke Mean?
Every Occasional Chair is made entirely to your specification. Nothing leaves the Covercraft workshop in Long Eaton until it has been built precisely to your order — there is no stock, no warehouse, no compromise.
You choose every detail
Fabric
Choose from our Core Selection of 64 designer fabrics — from Linwood, Sanderson, GP&J Baker, Harlequin, Nina Campbell, Romo, Zoffany and more. Each fabric has been chosen to work beautifully with upholstery. Up to five free samples are available so you can see and feel them at home before you commit.
Chair design
We offer 30 distinct chair designs — armchairs, wingbacks and accent chairs — each named after a location from British literature. Browse the full collection in our Chair Gallery and choose the silhouette that works for your space.
Cushion inner
The seat cushion filling affects how your chair feels over years of use. We offer a choice of fillings — from a firm, supportive option to a softer, more relaxed feel. Our team will help you choose based on how you intend to use the chair.
Leg style & colour
Legs are available in a range of turned and tapered styles, finished in 12 colours — from natural oak and dark walnut to painted finishes. The right legs make the difference between a chair that sits in a room and one that belongs there.
Made to order — what this means for you
Because your chair is made from scratch once you place your order, the lead time is typically 8–10 weeks. This is not a delay — it is the time required to source your chosen fabric, cut it to pattern, and build the chair by hand at Covercraft’s workshop in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire, the traditional heartland of British upholstery.
We confirm every order by telephone before production begins. This gives you a chance to ask questions, confirm your choices, and make sure everything is exactly right before the fabric is cut.
Your consumer rights
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, goods made to a customer’s specification are exempt from the standard 14-day right to cancel that applies to most online purchases. This is because a bespoke chair cannot be restocked or resold once it has been made to your fabric and specification choices.
This is why we take the time to confirm your order by telephone before we begin. We want you to be completely certain of your choices — and we are happy to answer any questions before you commit. Your statutory rights in respect of faulty goods are unaffected.
If you have any questions about the ordering process, please get in touch or call us on 01904 215603 — we are always happy to talk through your options.
