A bespoke, made-to-order armchair from Occasional Chairs starts from £980. Across our range, prices run from £980 to around £3,200, depending on the chair you choose and the fabric you put on it. Every chair has a starting price, and it rises with the fabric: a pricier designer fabric can add £1,000 or more to the same chair.
What affects the price of a bespoke armchair?
- The chair. Each design has its own size and construction, which is why starting prices differ across the range. A compact armchair costs less to make than a large wingback.
- The fabric. Fabrics sit in different price bands. A plain weave generally costs less than a patterned or premium designer fabric, so the same chair can cost more or less depending on your choice.
- Made to order. Each chair is built by hand for you, rather than produced in volume and stored in a warehouse.
Why does bespoke cost more than off-the-shelf?
An off-the-shelf armchair is made in volume, in a limited set of fabrics, and sold from stock. A made-to-order chair is built once you have chosen it, in the fabric you have chosen, by skilled upholsterers. In return for the higher starting price you choose exactly the fabric and colour you want, and the chair is built by hand to last.
